Paris – Day One – The Arrival

Taken at Shakespeare & Company

Thank you to everyone that wished us safe travels to Paris, France.  We arrived in just under 7 hours – 8:20 AM their time.  He decided he didn’t want to sleep on the plane, but rather watch movies the whole trip, so needless to say he was dog tired!  After riding with a manic cabbie…
(I have concluded all cabbies are created equally), we arrived at the hotel and sat in the “dark” (which was really daylight) for a while because we didn’t realize we had to stick the hotel key in the power source (oops!)… which caused us to sleep… for hours.

We woke up at 3 PM, got dressed, and headed out on the town.  It was starting to get darker and the darker it got, the colder it got, so us cool kids started dodging Father Frost by visiting small boutiques and restaurants.  The food is simply AMazing!  Here is some #foodporn for your viewing (PG rated, of course):

We have pretty much learned the surrounding streets.  We got “lost”, and just continued to walk to navigate our way around the area.  We keep finding the Notre Dame in our view (it’s visible just around the corner from our hotel) so we can never truly get lost in the crowds of Paris.  We are eager to see the Notre Dame in daylight tomorrow, hoping that maybe we can visit… after all, it is Christmas here, too.

So far, the people have been very pleasant.  They all smile and say “Merci” and all these other words I can’t understand -___-.  We are working on our French because this Southern Drawl I have isn’t really working.  My smile is universal though, so they know what I’m trying to say!  Here are a couple of shots we captured of our street roaming:
