I’ll Drink to THAT!

Your first drink of the New Year should be… a cold glass of water in the morning right when you wake up. No, not to nurse that hangover you plan on having after one of the craziest celebrations ever in life, but because it is beneficial to your health and you want to start the New Year on a good foot!

Here are some benefits to drinking water in the morning:

Refuels the body.  Dehydration sets in during resting hours because your body is so busy recovering from fatigue and restoring itself so you can function properly the following day.  Just like your car needs fuel, your body needs water to go.  Once refueled, it can jump start your metabolism.  As we age, our metabolism naturally starts to slow down, so any help with that should be taken advantage of.

Can contribute to weight loss.  The more your stomach is filled with water, the less food it will be able to hold.  Water also eases the appetite, so just drinking a glass of water 30-45 minutes before you eat any meal will keep what you confuse for hunger pangs at bay (you actually might just be thirsty)!

Boosts energy levels.  Being as cold as it is outside, the last thing I want to do in the morning is get out of bed to drink a cold beverage.  However, I know that coldness from the water will make me squirm enough to not just want to lay back down.  If I got out of the bed, I have to stay out.

Adding a couple drops of lemon juice to that cup can be an added bonus for skin, digestion, and weight loss.

Cheers to a healthy New Year – I’ll drink to that… yea yea! 🙂
