Self Love Project 2018 | Day 11

Today’s Affirmation

In a world where you make time for everyone else, when will you make time for self care?

My self care is worth making time for.

Self Care

Since becoming a mother, I sometimes have felt lost in the sauce when it comes to self care. Initially, my goal was just to make sure me and the baby were alive by day’s end.  After accomplishing that for almost 10 months, it’s time to reclaim my time!

I’m Worth the Time

I intentionally made a schedule for my self care.  It’s not because I’m selfish, rather it’s because I deserve it.  Even more than deserving, I am worth the time and effort I put into myself.  If I don’t take care of myself, how the hell am I going to take care of anyone else?  Who else will take care of me?  A car running on E can only take you but so far.

What Self Care Looks Like

I read and shared an article on my Instagram stories entitled “This Is What ‘Self-Care’ REALLY Means, Because It’s Not All Salt Baths And Chocolate Cake“.  Long title, but good read.

Self care is essential to the soul.  It can be glamorous, yea… sure… but that’s not the purpose of it.  The purpose of self care is to do the small things in life that ultimate, when put together, create the life you want to live.

For self care, I take the time to shower everyday (the struggle is real – judge your mom), cook meals, eat healthy, write, read, create, care for my hair, work toward my goals, use a moisturizer that doesn’t make me ashy, diffuse my favorite oils, work out, walk instead of drive, create and adhere to a budget, talk to/check up on my friends and family – basically I make time and have consideration for ME!
