Self Love Project 2018 | Day 19

Today’s Affirmation

I know you guys didn’t think I forgot about the self love project – no way!  Finally posting today’s affirmation:

I pay attention and listen to what my body needs for health and vitality.

My Neck, My Back

A crick in my neck, a sore right boob, and a throbbing left eye.

These are the symptoms I woke up to at  – catch it – 4 :45 AM this morning.  What in the world was going on?  After fidgeting with my eye for about 15 minutes, I decided to pump to relieve some soreness in my breast.

As if that’s no big deal, my little one has been waking randomly throughout the last few nights due to teething and of course decided to wake in the middle of my pumping session.  Great timing, right?  Once she was settled, I climbed back in bed only to find that the crick in my neck was still there and I couldn’t get comfortable enough for a deep sleep.

What’s sleep again?

Get’cho LIFE!

I looked over to my husband and told him, “baby, I’m falling apart”.

“No you’re not. Don’t say that”, he replied.  And he was right.  Instantly, I began to say my body is healing and all is well with my body.  Then I thought of this affirmation: I pay attention and listen to what my body needs for health and vitality.

Self Care

In that moment, my body needed a good, deep tissue massage.  Considering I was at home and that couldn’t be done at the time, I did some stretches while remembering to breathe into the tight areas of my neck.  It actually feels much better!  My plan to go to yoga and leave it ALL on the table during my practice sorta, kinda worked, but can I tell you I randomly moved my head to one side and “pop” – so much pressure relived.  It was just what I needed.

My eye feels better although I can still feel slight irritation.  As for my breast – it’s not engorged. I’m going braless today like I do most of my days and it felt better by days end.

It’s just important to be in tune with my body – to know when something’s just not right with my health and vitality and to be proactive about addressing it.

I felt well enough to join my girlfriend for a girl’s mama’s night out – woo hoo!  I did mention the crick in my neck while we were out just to ask her what she does when she gets them, but other than that I wasn’t even thinking about NONE OF THAT MESS!

And now I’m back home, holding my baby as she sleeps and watching TV with my husband; the good life.
