Self Love Project 2018 | Day Two

Day Two

We’re on day two of the Self Love Project and I’ve haven’t felt this enthusiastic in a while.

It’s something about being consistent that makes me feel so accomplished.  I love being able to browse through affirmations until I find that one that sticks with me like glue.  I repeat it over and over all day long.  I find comfort in knowing that I am taking myself seriously and am committed to making myself better.

Starting Fresh

Before year’s end, my husband and I signed up for the gym.  Now, I haven’t been to a gym off-site of our living community since a little before baby girl was born.  Furthermore, I haven’t been to yoga or any organized gym class since… shit, I can’t even remember!  And that’s not to say I haven’t worked out, but there is something about being in the presence of others and connecting with them during a workout that I enjoy (not to mention, it gives me the mommy time that I need).

We toyed around with when we would sign up, citing all scheduling conflicts and creating a work around for them, and committed to a schedule he and I could both work with while accommodating the baby.

If you think finding time to work out without a baby is hard, imagine factoring another life into the mix.  What I’ve learned is committing to ANYTHING when you have kids takes respect + communication with your partner, and sacrifice.  Since we both want to see each other succeed, we had to come up with a plan that worked for us both.

Keep Going

All has been working out for us so far and I thoroughly enjoy stepping out for and hour or so  just to have ‘me’ time.  There are times when I don’t feel like going, but I have to remember my commitment to not only myself, but to my family.  I think about how I would feel if I don’t go – will I be cranky?  Will I act resentful?  Will I have the strength to get things done?  Will my mind be focused and clear?  Will I waste my coins?  Will it be that bad?

Today’s Affirmation

Much like today, I remind myself I have come this far and I can keep going.

It’s funny how we make all these goals at the beginning of the year and abandon them for whatever reason.  I find the best way to achieve a goal is to take it day by day, minute by minute, second by second.  Just make it through the day.  Stay present and give thanks when you do something that pushes you toward your end result.  Before you know it, your day turns into a week, then into a month, then into a year.  It’s amazing how life unfolds if we just take it one day at a time.

In my case, simply packing my bag, filling my water bottle, and having my yoga mat in place gives me the assurance of “okay, you’re going to make this happen today I don’t care HOW COLD it is – no excuses!”.  Preparation makes all the difference.

And I as you can see, I made it!
