10 Things to Be Grateful For Everyday

Living a life of intention has been the motto for 2018, so it comes as no surprise I want to share with you all 10 things to be grateful for everyday.

Gratefulness isn’t just about acknowledging the big blessings you receive – a new job, a new car, a new anything… you get where I’m going with this.  It isn’t about sending praises up for what you think is important that God gave you.  It’s about being grateful for the newness of the day; about loving everything God has given you.

Well, how can I acknowledge EVERYTHING, pRoy?

Ah hah! You probably won’t be able to because The Universe has done so much!

I can’t say I can remember all the blessings bestowed upon me, but at some point I have to pause and really think about what I have going on in my life.

We are so used to doing repetitive tasks in our lives without acknowledging the newness of it; without acknowledging we have the ability to participate in these acts without the worries others may face.  The smaller things are just as, if not more important than what we consider “big”.  Yet, we take it all for granted.

It’s time we get out of our robotic state and learn to do things with intention.  With intention comes mindfulness and being in control of the mind allows us to identify what’s important to us and what is not.  From there, we can change our behaviors and only do things that add value to our lives.  In turn, we are grateful for what we decide to do because it is exactly what we want, even HAVE to do in order to live our best lives. 10 Things to Be Grateful For Everyday

I ate today.

Every night, I have a place to rest my head.

I have clean water.

There is someone who loves me.

I have a good heart.

I’m breathing.

I support others and wish them well.

I have hope.

I’m healthy.

I have the power to change my life.

Everyday, we are going through motions that seem the same, but are actually variations of what we expect ourselves to do daily.

Take sleeping for an example.  I sleep everyday, but the way I rest changes constantly.  Having gone through sleepless nights simply because my pregnant body couldn’t find comfort or the baby needed to nurse has changed the way I view rest.  Now, I am grateful for the way in which I rest.  I understand the value and importance of it and I cherish it.  In fact, I thank God in advance for the good rest I receive. By thanking The Universe in advance I’m setting the intention to sleep well.

Perhaps eating food could be another example.  I have the ability to change what I eat daily and I’m thankful for that.  When I have a taste for a certain meal, I can cook it.  Wait – I have a place to cook food, what a blessing!  And I have a fridge full of nutritious foods that I feed myself  because I love myself – see how this goes?  Once I shifted my mindset to appreciate all the smaller things there hasn’t been a day where I run out of gratitude.

Whenever I choose to focus on gratitude, I notice there are more things to be grateful for in my life. It’s like God says, “Oh, you saw that? Lemme see if you see this, too! Dang girl, you’re observant – how about this?” And guess what? I’m grateful for the increase and abundance!

If you don’t do anything else today, think of one thing you’re grateful for – can be anything!  Practice gratitude daily and it won’t become hard to figure out why you’re grateful; it will become a habit.

What is something you’re grateful for today?
